Hi and welcome to Blues Piano Sheet Music, I started this Blues Piano Sheet Music website and YouTube channel because I realised there were other piano players all over the world that, just like me, loved Blues Piano but just couldn’t figure out the notes or didn’t have the time to. Yeah, I can already hear the critics, “Blues comes from the soul, it shouldn’t be played from notation.” “The best blues players can’t even read music notes.” Yes, there is a lot of truth in that, but I figure less than 1 in a million was born with that gift. Born with the blues running through their veins. Born with an acute ear and a sense from a bygone era, the feeling to lay-down some cool blues on the piano. After all, there’s 7 billion people in the world. I say we should “Keep The Blues Alive” even if we do need to learn it from sheet music, and you’ll find the more you play it from sheet music, the more riffs and techniques you will learn and in time you’ll be playing your own cool piano blues. Sure there’s been plenty of blues piano instruction books written in the past, mostly aimed at the beginner pianist and they can be a big help when you’re starting out, but there’s never been a really good resource for advanced piano players who want to get their teeth into some real professional sounding blues, and I mean complete note for note transcriptions of the best blues piano tunes out there. In the past I spent a lot of money on books but I still struggled to take my blues piano to the next level. Now you can finally learn to play just like your favourite blues artists, and I mean really impressive sounding blues piano.

Dear Piano Friend, I was embarrassed. I had just gone to a blues jam session and was laughed off the stage. If you can picture the look of horror on my face. It was worse than you can imagine. It got to the point where I was afraid to play in public. And I was scared I’d never be the player I dreamed of being. So, like most musicians I tried every solution I could think of.
I tried the latest chords books, scale books, ear training books, play-alongs, ‘guru blues methods’ etc. Even after trying all that different stuff guess what happened to my playing? It barely got any better! I was being pulled in 100 different directions and I was more confused than ever before. It was incredibly painful.
I hated the way I sounded and I knew I had to do something about it. There had to a better way to learn blues piano right? It was a cold Tuesday night when I met Blues Hall Of Fame legend Bruce Katz. I shared with him my pain and frustration. He must have saw something in me. Bruce was only teaching at the Berklee College of Music at the time.
So, very few students had the opportunity to even study with him. And when he agreed to mentor me, my playing improved in ways I had only dreamed about! So, for 2 years Bruce and I sat together.
