Regarding the realism condor is top notch. I ran it on a bootcamp windows installation on my mac.tbh I tried to improve the graphics, there are nice updates for the clouds.

Condor has a very active community - with quite a lot of air races. IMHO the main problem is the poor graphic in combination with the missing oculus rift support.

However, in combination with a MS sidewinder force feedback it feels like flying a real plane. It just does not look like the real thing. As far as I remember there is a training for soon_to_be pilots in the making. This seems to be feasable because of the realistic flight characteristics. Have a look here: I stopped using it a while ago, but I will use it again for improving my flying skills, its just not nice for just flying around. What I heard its nice for competition flying. One last word: use rudder panels and the sidewinder force feedback joystick - they really improve the realism.

I've spent a few hours with each of Condor and Silent wings lately. Condor was the first I tried and i'm not sure I could say I had any complaints until I tried to play it on my high-end laptop (Sager with 4k/60Hz screen, GTX 980m, 16GB RAM, i7 CPU, Samsung SSDs, etc). To say the experience was bad would be a lie because there was no experience. Because Condor uses a 15 YEAR OLD graphics engine, it wouldn't play. I think the breaking issue was nVidia Optimus. That's also likely the reason it won't run higher than 1080p on my desktop (which is running a GTX 980, 64GB ram, Samsung 4k/60Hz monitor, etc).

This forced me to check out Silent Wings and WOW. I'm glad I did. Silent Wings makes Condor look like an antique. Control options, graphics compatibility, scenery, UI, graphics quality, thermal models; even as I'm writing this on one monitor, I'm grabing by X52 occationally to correct my heading while flying on another monitor in full-screen mode. The only integration is significantly better as well. Then there's features like the flight ribbon, instrument controls and zoom. The TrackIR integration is 6DOF too and with Condor, it's only 3.

So again, Condor is a nice sim, but I just purchased it and will be buying Silent Wings now (in trial still).
