Install Oracle Designer 10g Windows 7

I have a good version of Oracle (OraDb11g_home1 [11.2.0.1.0] - on Windows 7 Enterprise SP 1), plus I have Sql Developer, everything works fine. But I haven't been able to install Oracle Designer or Developer. When trying Oracle Designer I got 'wrong OS version', so??? So then I saw in the Readme file that I need to load Oracle Developer, per this: If you do not have an existing Oracle Designer 10gR2 release on your machine, you must first install the certified version of Oracle Developer Suite 10gR2 (10.1.2.0.2) and then proceed for upgrading repository.

So I downloadedOracle Developer Suite, and when attempting to install I get a similar message... Using paramFile: E: app Disk1 - Oracle Developer install oraparam.ini Checking installer requirements. Checking operating system version: must be 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2. Actual 6.1 Failed. Ok, I'll give the DOS command a try, I earlier had just clicked on the 'setup' file in the install directory. So Oracle Developer doesn't work on Windows 7 Enterprise?

I know that Oracle Designer is past it's shelf life, but it requires Oracle Developer. The Oracle Developer page says that it's 'being made available only to provide access to Oracle Designer. So maybe I'm out of luck? I need to learn Oracle Designer for a project, and then need Oracle Developer to load Oracle Designer... Beyond that, I would probably be looking at JDeveloper, Data Integrator, and Golden Gate - all of which are new to me. I don't quite follow your log, what does that refer to? ========== I have to conclude that I'm sunk - my machine is good, as it runs Windows 7 Enterprise, it has Oracle d.b.

((OraDb11g_home1 [11.2.0.1.0] ), also Sql Developer works, it also has MS Sql Server 2012, Visual Studio 2010. I need to learn Sql Designer for a project, so I'll have to try online, tutorials, etc.

But that kind of sucks. I'll also try JDeveloper and maybe a few other things. Got it to work!!!!!!!!!! I did some research and found which did the trick!

The keys were - add Windows 6. Hamilton Fiendens Fiende Download there. 1 to oraparm.in file - check properties on setup.exe to run for 'Windows XP (Service Pack 2) -- so it was a compatability issue, as David discussed - change Virtual Memory / Paging File Size to 2000 / 8000 -- although I don't think this really made a difference, because now that I look at it, I changed these parameters on C: drive, but I installed it on E: drive. So I see Oracle Forms Builder, Sql Plus for Windows, JDeveloper 10g, Designer, and Reports Builder. I have other questions but I'll post separately.
